Safe Selling On-Line
In today’s economy we are all looking for ways to save a dollar or to even bring in a couple extra dollars. Craig’s List has become very popular for selling items that you no longer need. But be careful when selling your items online. I wanted to give everyone a few tips to new sellers to make your sales safer. 1. Never use your real home phone or cell phone number. I would recommend going to www.google.com/voice and picking up a free phone number. With Google voice you can set up a free number and have calls to that number automatically forwarded to any phone that you chose. There are some great videos at http://www.youtube.com/googlevoice to help you with Google Voice. 2. Never invite anyone into your home. I would strongly recommend meeting at a public place to conduct your transactions. 3. If you must have them come to your home to pick up the item, have the item at your door. Do not let strangers into your home! 4. For very valuable items I would recommend meeting at a police station or fire station. Crooks will never want to meet you there and you know you are safe. 5. Place lots of photographs of the items you want to sell online. The more photos you provide the quicker and easier your transaction will go. 6. Never meet a stranger alone. Always take a friend or family member with you. Unless you are meeting someone at the police station I would suggest you never have your children present for any transaction. While 99.9% of online sales are perfectly safe I would always recommend taking these steps for any transactions with strangers. Be safe out there! Ken www.kchelpspot.com |
