Discounting CAN Cost You!

In today's world of ease and accessibility to the technology of the Internet, it has become to easy to just jump on-line and in a flash purchase a virtual cornucopia of...well....of pretty much anything you want. Yes, The speed and convenience is spectacular, especially if you love to watch more money than you need to spend disappear in a nanosecond! I mean, I've heard money can burn a hole in some people's pocket, but your keyboard? I'm sure you check out competitors and look for sales. But did you know there's more you can do? It just takes a few extra minutes.

Internet "stores" are just like real stores anymore. Hidden somewhere in the back of the basement is the bargain bin. There are times you have to look for them, but it can be worth the extra time. For instance, Sam's Club has (hidden on the bottom of their main page) a small banner that is the link to their auction site. (Yes, auction site!). I checked it just before writing this and they have a brand new Waring Professional Juice Extractor on auction. The bidding was to end soon so I went on a search for the best price I could find (using the name and model number). I found it ranging from $179.00 to $328.99. When I returned, the auction had ended and it had gone for a monumental $38.00....yes, that's THIRTY-EIGHT dollars.

Apple.com is another example. They have GREAT deals, but not on the first page. You must click on the "Store" link and then on the next page, scroll down near the bottom to find them. They sell refurbished IPods (A LOT of the time they are remorse purchase returns, but even if it is an actual "refurb", they ALL come with a guarantee it has been tested, certified and includes a full one year warranty)! You can purchase these for anywhere from 13-23% off and I've even seen higher discounts for post-holiday returns (up to 60% off). Right now, they have several 8GB shuffles for only $39.00, Nanos for $99.00 and the IPod Touch for $149.00.

Neiman's, Walmart, Tiffany's, Target, KMart, Macy's, Zappos... Almost ALL the major web locations have discount bins! On big ticket items, it's BIG savings. If you can't find it, call the merchant and ask! Do not discount the savings available to you so quickly and you'll have enough left over to buy yourself quite a nice little present as a reward (and STILL have more left over)!
